He has directed or starred in several film adaptations of William Shakespeare's plays including Henry V, Much Ado About Nothing, Othello, Hamlet, Love's Labour's Lost, and As You Like It. He has also starred in numerous other films and television series including Fortunes of War, Wild Wild West, The Road to El Dorado, Conspiracy, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, Warm Springs, Valkyrie, Wallander, and My Week with Marilyn as Laurence Olivier; and directed such notable films as Dead Again, Swan Song, Mary Shelley's Frankenstein, The Magic Flute, Sleuth, and the blockbuster superhero film Thor.
