Born in Mississippi, Bailess began studying classical dance at the age of four and competed in gymnastics, dance and cheerleading. At age 11, she began performing live on television as a dancer in the Miss Mississippi Pageant where she continued for 7 more years. After attending ballet workshops across the country, Katherine won a scholarship with the Broadway Dance Center in New York and at Ann Reinking's Broadway theatre Project in Florida. After focusing on dance and musical theatre at Marymount Manhattan College, Katherine went on to study at the William Esper Studio's two-year intensive program.On the big screen, Katherine has appeared in a number of independent films including "The Bootlegger," "A Failed Relationship," "The Champion" and "Central." For television, Katherine had a recurring role on ABC's "One Life to Live" soap opera and starred as Brianna in Fox Sport's "Thunderbox." Her many talents have made her a success in theatre productions as both an actress and dancer.Her latest movie is 20th Century Fox's upcoming romantic musical comedy From Justin to Kelly (2003). This spring break Miami adventure stars American Idol winner Kelly Clarkson and runner-up Justin Guarini. Katherine's role as Alexa, Kelly's sexy friend, has her singing and dancing her own number of which she performs with a male chorus of fifty guys. The movie is scheduled for a June 2003 release. Additionally, Katherine will be starring in Universal's "Bring It On Again" where she plays the role of Colleen Lipman for director Damon Santostefano. This is scheduled for a July release.When not working Katherine enjoys teaching children's dance lessons, reading and outdoor sports. She resides in Los Angeles.
